Race Relations...Let's Discuss...
Today, Senator Obama gave a brilliant but solemn speech on race relations in America. While this is a topic we do not like to talk about, it has become center stage in the 2008 presidential campaign, and it beckons us to give it some thoughtful and profound consideration. So, let me start the conversation with these questions: Why is it that when we Whites vote into office our people in droves, we do not see it as being racially motivated, but when people of different race/ethnicity vote for people of their race/ethnicity in droves, we including some in the media seem to think that their action is racially motivated? Is it because we in the majority are color-blind to our own actions, or is it the work of some politicians and or certain groups to continue to perpetuate division? Today, we are asked to decide where we would like to go-forward or backwards?
